| Rooms with a view in Harbor Country
New Buffalo's Marina Grand Resort opened in July 2006 right on New Buffalo Harbor, upping the stock in chic shelters in the area known as Harbor Country. Part hotel, part luxury condominium, Marina Grand combines the best of both worlds: There's a concierge desk in the modest lobby, but the rooms are so quiet and private, they feel like home. There's a top-notch tavern adjacent to the hotel, but the suites include fully equipped kitchens and dining areas adequate for hosting a formal meal. Not to mention location, location, location. Marina Grand is right on the water, a few blocks west of Whittaker Street in the heart of downtown New Buffalo. It's within walking distance of Whittaker Street's dining options and boutiques, the village's main grocery store (if you're putting that kitchen to use) and, of course, the beach.
Wrestling: Palmetto Ridge, South Dade share Dodge Duals title
South Dade, meanwhile, had six matches and won those in similar fashion, flushing their competition by a 306-61 count. “We'd never won this tournament," said senior Richie Dehnz, after he and his teammates posed for pictures with their trophy. “That's why this is big for us." They kept everyone healthy, too. That was just as important. About two weeks ago, South Dade coach Vic Balmaceda, himself concerned with keeping his squad in one piece, proposed to Palmetto Ridge's Mark Rosenbalm that their teams not meet in the Duals if it came to that. It did. So they didn't. South Dade, the favorite to win the Class 3A state title, and Palmetto Ridge passed on the chance to lock up for the third straight weekend. They didn't want either squad to cost its opponent the shot at a more significant championship down the road.

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God is a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the father upon the children unto the third and fourth generationof them that hate me. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takethe His name in vain. 4. Remember the sabbath day to keep it Holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work. BUT the 'seventh day' is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them, and 'rested' the seventh day: wherfore the Lord blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it.
In the world of online community, one authoritative man can dictate ...
It was still early morning when Matthew Passmore opened the door of his parents' half-broken minivan and planted his feet on the dusty floor of the New Mexico desert. A smattering of scrub brush grew up from the dirt and rocks, and a lone wooden mailbox rose out of the ground with letter stickers pasted on to form the word "CABINET." .
Councilman MikeK Recalls Knievel Action Figure
Top: Young MikeK playing with Evel Knievel action figure; bottom: MikeK receives inspiration from his childhood friends before leaving for a Coeur d'Alene City Council meeting. I had a classic Evel Knievel motorcycle riding action figure when I was a kid. The stunts my brothers and I would stage for that motorcycle toy were legendary (riding out a second story window, chasing the dog around the house without getting chewed to ribbons, you name it). RIP Evel. I wonder what happened to Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man who played the role of Evel's arch-nemesis in the boyhood action figure wars?/Councilman MikeK. Question: What was your favorite action figure/doll when you were little? .
Duffy the voice: a new star is born
The first and potentially best new musical name of 2008 has been posing as directed on an icy hometown beach for 20 minutes now. Though gloveless and merely cardigan-ed in protection against the winds, her charm and positivity remain intact. "Thank you," she persists in saying to the swaddled but still shivering rest of us: photographer, assistant, make-up artist, journalist and PR. Variously, and not just here but at a number of equally frigid other locations, that has meant thanks for holding her coat, for taking such care, for being sufficiently interested to have travelled all the way to the Gwynedd coast to meet her relatively unknown self. If good manners and an appealing nature were all it took to guarantee success, 23-year-old Amy Duffy would have it made. They’re not all it takes, of course.
